Artist(s): Katsushiro Otomo

In 1989 Katsushiro Otomo hand-colored this color guide (along with others) to serve as a color scheme for Steve Oliff, whom he personally selected to color his seminal work, Akira. 35 years later, Akira remains one of the greatest graphic narratives of all time and a classic example of Manga and enshrined Katsushiro Otomo as one of the greatest illustrators and storytellers of his generation, if not all-time.

Aside from rough sketches, original art by Katsushiro Otomo for any of his projects is nearly impossible to acquire (#mangaka_life). Here's an opportunity to own a piece of production art history directly tied to Akira and touched by Otomo. For more on the history of the Akira color guides created by Katsushiro Otomo and Steve Oliff, please check out this link to Felix Comic Art's profile on Steve Oliff and a link to a short (5 min) documentary on YouTube.
