Higher Consciousness Collectibles (HCC) is an original comic book art and collectibles marketplace developed by David Slatkin, a lifelong comics fan and original comic art collector, to share proceeds from secondary art sales with artists and the comics community.
HCC provides royalties to artists on secondary original comic art sales and engages in profit-sharing with non-profits on the sales of other collectibles. We hope this approach creates a positive impact in the lives of the artists whose works inspire us, our community, and the art and stories that bring us together.
HCC strives to provide an eclectic range of original comic book art for a diverse community of collectors. Although David’s positionality and taste currently skew toward more modern/contemporary art from Indie, Small Press, Alternative, and Underground comics and artists, HCC is excited to expand the breadth of our offerings as we build our marketplace and develop a community of collectors.

Policies
Payment Information
HCC accepts cash, checks (artwork paid by check will be held for 14 days to ensure it clears), money orders or Zelle with no fees. Bank wires add $20 (domestic or international). Venmo payments will incur a 2% processing fee. PayPal payments will incur a 5% fee for domestic orders and 7% for international orders.
A sales tax of 6.25% will be added for Massachusetts residents.
Shipping
Artwork
All artwork thoughtfully and securely packed. Shipping rates vary depending upon where the artwork is shipped to as follows:
–Continental US (via USPS Priority w/ tracking): $30-$75
–Alaska & Hawaii (via USPS Priority w/ tracking): $50-$100
–Canada (via FedEx Express Saver w/ tracking): $50-$125
–International (USPS Priority--ONLY for items UNDER $650) to Mexico & Europe: $125-$200
–International (USPS Priority--ONLY for items UNDER $650) OUTSIDE Mexico & Europe: $150-$250
–International (via FedEx Express Saver w/ tracking) to Mexico & Europe: $200-$350
–International (via FedEx Express Saver w/ tracking) outside Canada, Mexico, and Europe: $250-$400
Time Payments
HCC is happy to arrange generous payment plans for up to 4 months with a 20% down payment. 10% of the invoice total for items purchased via payment plans is NON-REFUNDABLE.
Returns
There will be a 25% restocking fee for any items returned for any reason UNLESS it is due to damage or incorrectly listed.
Royalties on Original Comic Book Art
10% of net proceeds from original comic art sales are sent as royalties to the primary artist. If the primary artist is deceased, we will attempt to get in touch with their estate and/or beneficiaries. If we are unable to get in touch with the primary artist, their estate, or beneficiaries within a period of 6 months from the completion of the sale, or any of these parties is unwilling to submit a 1099 to receive royalty payment, then those funds will be donated to The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (CBLDF) and/or The Hero Initiative. A list of total royalties paid out will be posted on this website annually.
Profit-Sharing on Other Collectibles
2% of profit from other collectibles will be donated to the Worcester Public Library in Worcester, MA.
Other Services
Consignments
HCC is excited to accept select consignments and will share a portion of the net proceeds on original comic book art (OA) with the artist. We’ll work with consignors to set and obtain the best price possible on their art utilizing a number of factors. There is no upfront cost to consign art with HCC unless the consignor wishes to have HCC send shipping materials for hassle-free and secure transit from the consignor to HCC. 10% of net proceeds from consignment sales are sent in the form of a royalty to the artist of OA, and 5% of net proceeds are retained by HCC.

Buying
If you’re looking for an immediate payout for your art instead of consigning through HCC, we’re also excited to purchase art directly from collectors and are willing to pay a premium above fair market value for select pieces.
